Default Epiphone pickguard question

Im thinking about buying a used Epi 335, Sheraton or something semi hollow to expand my horizons a bit. The guitars are a plenty on the used market and can be purchased at a price where I can't really get hurt if I want to turn it.

I really dislike the giant scripted "E" on the lower side of the pickguard. Two questions:
Can the "E" be removed readily without destroying the original pickguard;
Can I buy aftermarket pick guards that will fit without a bunch of intervention?

Don't know about removing the E, but you should have no problem finding a replacement pickguard. I removed mine; didn't care for the look of it.

The guard from a Gibson 335 should be a direct fit. The guitar is a copy of the Gibby.

I don't know about the current Epis, but I took the E off my '65 USA made Riviera back in the day for the same reason... Did a little polishing and it was fine, although hard to tell from this aged photo...

I had an Epi Dot where the "E" came off the pickguard easily. I currently have a Sheraton II and can't get the E off, so I just removed the pickguard.

If you can wait, they often fall off on their own.

Otherwise I think it would easy to work a razor blade under it to pop it off.

Same here. On my Epi Dot the E just fell off in hot weather. Good guitar though, gets a lot of use here.

Default It will fall off nevertheless

my E came off after 6 years, either you remove now or later, you're better off removing it now since you can do some polishing right after

They look so much better without the pickguard. Just remove it entirely. My ES-355 came with the pickguard in a bag in the box so I just never put it on.

When I was getting a Phat Cat P-90 put into my Epi 'Dot' I asked the set up guy if he could either remove the 'E' or just cut me a new pickguard. Sure, he said. I've always hated this stupid 'E' I said, putting my finger on it... and watching it slide right off...
