If you're referring to my post, it's this, in Crimson Red:

Best $80 I spent on gear in a long time. It is what it is (a quite usable bass), and is perfect to be loaned to any wanker on open mic night.

Well I went on this same journey back in January and here is my thread on this.

http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=454227

I had no interest in the Bronco although it would have worked for my needs. I wanted full scale because I wanted the real deal and took bass lessons 9 months of this year. Having a great time with it.

If you notice in post 28 in my thread I got the Ibanez which looks like the Jaguar for $200 new. I like the guitar and later bought a used Fender Squire Precision bass for $130 on CL and like it much better than my new Ibanez. This was the same advice I read to buy but I didn't listen. The Fender had a serious bow in the neck which was easily visible on the bass and I adjusted the truss rod and it plays fine. Bought strings and never changed them.

You will need at minimum a 20 watt amp or you will be disappointed. I have a 20 and a 40 amp now. Good Luck

Well I ordered a used Bronco for $100 from my least favorite place on earth, Guitar Center...don’t even ask me how trying to get ahold of somebody on the store to ask about condition went.
All things well it should be here by Monday!
My long term goals are to swap the pickguard for a black one and put in a covered black rails pup. From there I’ll see how it is going, I’m not opposed to other upgrades, but since it’ll just be used in my basement studio I’m not too worried either.

Congrats on the incoming bass. I'm not a bass player, but my son has one of these, full scale length, with an active bass boost circuit:

I think they were $199 when we first bought it.

Nice! The cheapest jag I could find was $50 more and trying to keep cost down (that whole happy wife thing &#128580. A lot more tone options on that jag though! Being a guitarist I’m somewhat looking forward to the short scale on the Bronco.

Well my UPS man came around 6 last night with my black Bronco bass. Being used the condition surprised me, I couldn’t even find a scratch on it. Somebody replaced the volume/tone knob with metal knobs and it was obviously set up well by the previous owner. If it had any bad fret ends they were filed also, the neck feels great. Being a guitarist the short scale is wonderful, it feels like playing a 4 string guitar with the neck size and length. I only played it di into my interface as that’s my only plans for it. There was definitely some him, I’ll likely replace the pickup with something that is a humbucking single coil at some point, but it was liveable for what I need it for. The tuners surprised me, they feel quite solid, I expected them to be extremely cheap for what these cost new. Other than the pickup and some new strings I don’t see much need to swap anything out. My dream would be to get a black pickguard and a black covered pickup on it tho Go. All in all, great for $80!

Also, my son approves even though it’s the same height as him.
