I've been making guitars for more than three decades. When I look closely at my finish I see flaws. The flaws are fewer and less glaring than 30 years ago, but still not perfect. I've seen a few guitars with perfect finishes, but they weren't ones that I made. I'm not sure I've ever seen a factory-made finish that was perfect. Some of them are far from it.
You've done very well for your first experience with it. |

Perfection is a fine ideal, attaining is an illusion. It is the realm of nature, not man, IMO. Certainly not THIS man.

Painting is a skill.
Buffing is a skill. A lot of people manage to get good results with very little to no training. The final finish is simply an illusion, more scratches exist on a surface finished with 2000 grit than exist on a surface sanded with 220 grit. It about getting the scratches small enough that the human eye can no longer detect them. Steve
