Weekend update. I got to spend some time over at the shop today. I got the rest of the rosette glued in and did some work on the back braces.

No pics of the braces but here's the rosette progress.

Dragging the chisel down them. This is how I shave the sides of the braces to thin them.

More bracing photos... still just guessing at this stuff... like make it light and somewhat flexible so it has a nice resonance.

This is what I have so far. I did lower the x brace joint and recapped it after the photos were taken.

Braces are done... I got it to have a nice resonance depending on where you hold and tap it'll have different pitches. At least it doesn't sound like wet cardboard.

I also glued the back to the sides.

Getting ready for the binding process by sanding the top and back plates flush with the sides. Put on some seal coat shellac to help with the channel routing.

Love this wood.

Shellac was a put on with a paper towel if you're wondering why it looks the way it does.

Time for binding... first things first, I had to make the binding jig.

And now for the binding channel.

I like the double X brace. Interesting the bridge plate tucked under the top of the small X. That coco is dark...rather like cocoa. I like the art deco touch, too.

OddManOut- Thanks for the kind words! I plan to do more inlay in that style for this little guitar.
