Hehe, not to slight your work. It just tells me I need to get a nicer dining room table before I get another guitar, that's all!

What woods did you use for that rosette?

The tiles are Black Walnut, spalted Tamarind, and black ebony, bordered in black ebony. The purfling lines are black wood, maple, and Black Walnut.

Thanks!

Man.. I'm so proud that you remember my humble guitar builds

I've stopped guitar building for a little while, I'll get back to it when I'll have a dedicated room for it, I can't bear working in my kitchen with my toold in a trolley anymore.. I need space!

Maybe I will create a new post for my latest build I finished last june!

Thank you Mark, you're so inspirational! You enlighten our minds with your craft and art.

I'll say they are different from other machine tuners with sort of an old school feel that my clients seem to really take to.
They are also super light. When I make this nylon crossover model I make it light. For instance, this Black Walnut guitar is 3lbs 6 1/2ozs. These very light tuners really help balancing the weight so we don't end up with a top heavy guitar (I hate that)

Mark
Ooooh! I did not realize they were geared. The weight is nice! Thanks for the reply, sir!

Default Penelope Sound Sample

I recently shipped this Penelope nylon crossover and had promised to get a sound sample up. This is cedar over Black Walnut with an open headstock and Knilling planetary geared tuning pegs. This is a strait recording without enhancements:

Based on your use of these tuners I've picked up a set to use on a cello themed guitar I'm building. Very cool tuners.

Thanks a lot for all of your posting. I love seeing your updates and your clean execution is very inspiring!

Mark, that sounds fantastic. So crystal clear and bell-like, with wonderful sustain. Congrats.

Thanks!

A cello themed guitar sounds interesting. I hope you'll post a build thread or some pictures. I'm sure the cello pegs will work fine for a steel string guitar. I used them for an accoustic bass guitar and they are working nicely.
I really like the size of those cello pegs. They remind me of Charms lollipops!

Thanks Jon,

I have a couple other recordings I did with Mike on this guitar and have two more songs I'd like to post.

The Black Walnut met my expectations which were pretty high.
I have a couple more sister sets and am hoping someone will order a steel string model so I can hear that too.

Thanks again, I'll have the other two sample up soon!

Mark

Default 2 More Sound Samples Penelope Crossover

Here are two more sound samples of the Cedar/Walnut Penelope nylon crossover. I will be finishing my first Greta nylon hybrid soon so I'm collecting up these sample so we can compare the two models:
