Steve,

The same here. I had heard great things about his instruments and the initial cost for one was very affordable. Still kicking myself!

I did recently raise my base price to $6.8k. However, roughly 1 month ago I decided I could squeeze in a few more builds over the next few years and I've decided to include a free Rodgers tuners upgrade. Definitely not the cheapest guitars around but I think a very good deal for the quality of my work. I also don't plan to stick around at $6.8k for too long either. If anyone is interested in one of those builds I have more information on my website's intro page.

Back on topic -- I'll be trying the old Spanish lutherie method of using rope to glue the bindings -- should be fun.

I really like the look of that peg head with the different woods.

That is one pretty amazing guitar! The woods are absolutely fantastic. The design elements are exactly what anyone would want in a Simon Fay built guitar! Someday I hope my budget allows for one of these builds. Gorgeous!

That's a pretty nice "complimentary upgrade" on the tuners, Simon!

I'm not familiar with the pricing on the Rodgers product...somewhere north of $500 per set...?

Yes, a very good deal for the quality of your work...indeed.

Larry,

It is likely a bit more generous than that...

Engraved Rodgers individual tuners set up for steel stringed guitars with hardwood buttons are more like $850-$900 (without the engraving take off $100 and another $100 for plastic buttons so $650-$700 minimally) even with a luthier's discount.

I sit corrected...although technically I was correct...sort of!

"North of $500", indeed!

The Rodgers tuners were $834, plus Simon will deduct the cost of the standard tuners that come with his guitars. It takes Rob about two months to complete a set, very fine folks to work with I might add. I chose the engraving, Simon picked the button.

More build picks coming soon.

Simon has been working through Flu like symptoms for the past week or so. Still he has managed to push through it and has the guitar ready for finish. I am very pleased!

Beautiful. Simon, I really like how crisp the lines on the heel of your necks are. I love your aesthetic as a whole, but that transition and the position markers on the side of the fretboard really stick out to me.
