Default Framus Guitars

I used to have a nice Framus acoustic. 6 string, dreadnaught, solid spruce top, sunburst finish, mahogany back and sides and the back had the belly to it. Fixed bridge with adjustable saddle and laminated neck. 0 Fret. The interesting thing about this guitar is it had a french heel rather than a bolted on neck. I have only seen one other Framus like it (years ago, none recently) and I can't find out what model number mine was. Does anyone have a clue? Oh, and it's out there somewhere, so if you have one like this, and it has Grover tuners on it, it's my old guitar!

During the 1950s, Framus made both archtops and flattops with a French Heel neck. I am not sure though when they shifted to the bolt-on neck.

Been there. All the similar models pictured have bolt on necks. I think the only ones they show with french heels have moveable bridge and a trapeze. Mine had a fixed bridge.

It is hard to find reliable and consistent info on Framus from the past. Lack

of internet in those days has allowed details to slip away. And there is some

information in that link given earlier that is wrong or lacking full accuracy.

If per chance you have not already explored a site that has a forum (I assume

it is still active but I have not been there for a few years), here is another

link you could explore for information:

I had a sunburst archtop Framus (no electronics) for over 20 years, but sold

it about a year ago. Was a beautiful and fascinating attention-getter, but

honestly it never had the voice I was looking for from such an instrument. It

was built in Bavaria in 1973 and about 15 years age when aquired.

[edit: I apologize for the format of my text above. It was composed and cut&paste from Notepad while waiting for my account to be activated.]

I'm a member over there. Didn't know they had a Framus forum. I posted over there as well.
