Default A Pono AT on its way

I just picked up a used Pono AT Ukulele, tenor model. I owned a concert size Ukulele a couple years ago, total blast, not sure why I ever sold it. I play mostly Bluegrass/Old Time on guitar. It's fun playing Hawaiian music on the Ukulele, some fingerstyle too. Such a happy little instrument! I'll post some pics when it arrives.

Ukulele works at bluegrass jams too - same tonal range as the mandolin. When there are a bunch of guitars and a dearth of mandolins at a given jam session, I switch and play uke to cover the mandolin parts. But I don't play with really hard-core bluegrass purists. WWBMD (What would Bill Monroe do?).

Pono's are very nice. Congrats. I have a koa eight string tenor and really should play it more than I do. I have even thought about making a new nut and converting mine into a wide-necked four string. It is too nice of an instrument to mostly sit in the hall closet.

I had a Pono MC a couple years ago, mahogany concert. A nicely made instrument! I'm curious if the acacia will sound much different than the mahogany. I'm looking forward to the tenor size, feels much more comfortable than the concert.

How about an update?

I am looking at both the Pono AT and Pono MT, trying to decide which one I'd rather have.

Is Pono made in Hawaii?

Also, any thoughts on quality comparison to the Martin tenor? (the one that sells for about $490 or so).

thank you!

Mr. Monroe would do whatever it takes.

You are going to love that uke. Far better than the new Martin I played, which wasn't bad. I chose the MT too. Plays like a dream. Made in Indonesia.

Really, the differences between the mango, acacia , and mahogany Ponos are pretty subtle. No bad choice.
