I recently purchased a Deering Goodtime 2. I am having fun with it, but it is a bit humbling since I am a guitar player!
I think I am progressing fairly well after just a few days. Fun!

My wife dabbles in the banjo. We have a bunch of Stellings, as well as a Wildwood Soloist and a Nechville prototype with an electric module that replaces the regular banjo head....

Just a cheap Hondo II that I bought used a couple of years ago. I'll admit that I don't play it though but I did dabble in it when I got it.

Gold Tone 5 string BG-250, 4 string IT-250, 6 string CC-banjitar, and 4 string banjo-ukulele.

On the 5 string I generally play a *******ized classical right hand with thumb pick and no fingerpicks (though I teach Scruggs if a student wants it), on the Irish tenor I play mostly flat picked fiddle tunes, on the banjitar and banjo-uke I play whatever comes to mind.

Would love a high end 5 string and 6 string sometime.

RK-80. I wish I would have gotten a cheap banger because the weight of the thing keeps me from playing Scruggs style picking.

Try "high-grass" tuning - gDGBE (first string tuned up a whole step) - a variation on the "Chicago" tuning used by 1920's plectrum players who switched off between banjo and guitar; really cuts down the learning curve since you can use the old familiar four-string guitar chords - and your audience will never know the difference...

GoldTone OB-250 5-string - I mostly try playing 3-finger with thumb pick and finger picks but, I occasionally experiment with a flat pick, too. I use it mostly to add background sound to multi-track recordings but, I hope someday to get good enough to actually feature it in a song or two!
