Default Looking for soft material that doesn't mess with bass finish

Hi all,

My girlfriend bought a used double bass yesterday, and a stand that goes with it: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/orche...ith-bow-holder

The two horizontal struts of the stand that hold the bass' body need to be re-wrapped. I'm looking for ideas for materials that will provide good cushioning yet not mess with the bass' finish.

It's a Schiller Student bass, maple laminate (I think). There is NOTHING available online about this kind of bass, so I have no clue of the nature of its finish.

Any pointers will be very much appreciated.

Use soft all Cotten cloth (flannel works well and is inexpensive at fabric stores) for any part that touches the finish. Won't scratch and is safe for any finish.
