Default Hiroshi Ogino build for TAMCO UK

My first build by former Ervin Somogyi apprentice Hiroshi Ogino is under way. It should be here in plenty of time for the Ray Kraut Legendary Luthiers event on 31st October.

Its an OM in sitka and padauk with carved rosette (like the second photo).

The Padauk set was given to Hiroshi as a graduation present by Ervin.

It looks incredible.
I love the carving Hiroshi has done on the few guitars of his that I have seen (on the internet, not in person).

That padauk is looking awesome too. I hope it keeps some of the redness as it matures, but either way, I'm sure it'll sound phenomenal.

Thanks Trevor. Now if I ever complain about tedious tough work, Steve will just show me these pictures. That's very nice.

It does, indeed! It's easy to see who he learned that from. I can only imagine what the upcharge would be for such time consuming detail.

After the first 50 the next 200 are a piece of cake.

That does look special. Congrats on the new build. Let us know how she handles after you get a chance to take her for a spin.

I love Hiro's work. Nearly gunned for one as my first custom but he didn't offer fanned frets which I was looking for. He even built a guitar as an apprentice in the past for the great Kotaro Oshio!

Extremely curious as to how fragile the carved rosette is. I'm guessing it wouldn't last long in my hands also, how many hours exactly does he spend on a rosette like this? A single mistake would render the entire top useless; such immense workmanship!
