BTW, are you going back up to Woodstock this year?

Hi Mike,

That road was so great! We had no idea what was going on on our way up. It felt like a Wes Anderson movie for a second. I do hope to be there this year. I've been on the wait list to display for the past few years but I'll likely come either way next year. I was ready to come last October on Sunday but too much stuff came up at the last minute, I was bummed. It sounded like another great time.

We will be having a get together or two again this year, so you'll have to make sure to stop over again. There will be plenty of guitars, food & drinks to go around.

The build has begun, and it's coming along great.

Won't be long before the box is all put together.

I know you have top notch taste in acoustic guitars so I'll be real interested to see how this guitar fares for you. Looking forward to your review.

All the best with it!

A little orange sunshine on this gray spring morning is most appreciated...

I have been traveling out of the country for most of the month of March, so maybe I missed your review and/or thoughts on your "new to you" Brondel. So, how do you like it?

More pictures today of the finished top being joined up to the back and sides to make the box. It's starting to resemble a guitar now, and the anticipation is starting to grow for me. Looking forward to paying Laurent a visit at some point in the near future. He's only about 2 hrs away.

You know, I thought the SAME thing! I also like the small male bridge plate he uses. Both are very Martinesque.

Well, sir, you are in for a real treat. I have been thoroughly impressed with this guitar. The tone is unlike any other modern instrument I've played. As you all know tone is impossible to describe, but the lateral arch bracing that Laurent uses is in full effect IMHO, and lends a very interesting angle to the sound. Either way I'm sure you'll be impressed when it shows up. Enjoy the process!

I have played about a half dozen of his guitars at Woodstock over the past 3 years, and each one was superb. My favorite was the pernambucco/euro A2 he had 3 years ago, and after playing my buddy's pernambucco/euro Olson last year, I decided that that wood combo worked for me sonically. The box is now together and the bindings & end graph will be getting done over the next week, and then the neck gets carved.

This week the end graft and binding are going on the box. I am headed up to John Slobod's shop tomorrow with a 1930 OM-28 and a 1938 00-21S to have him pattern the neck shapes so Laurent has a range of something to go by when carving the neck for this guitar, and so John has it on record so we don't have to go through this again in a few months when he builds me a German/Maple 00 cutaway... and after that is done we are catching the Zappa show a few minutes down the road. Should be a fun evening up in Portland!
