Wow, Mau. What a great piece!! Great everything, melody, pace, twists and turns, nice reverb (haha!), the whole pickin' frackage, dude!

Thanks Kevin.

To be honest, when I buy a guitar from a luthier, I judge the individual as much as (if not more than) the guitar itself. I personally don't like to mention the word "friendship" in the same breath as I discuss a 5-figure business transaction -- but I really like Bruce and value his opinion.

That being said, I play guitar strictly for the love of playing and composing music -- no demos, no teaching, etc.

I.e. what a happy tune. Love it.

Thanks, Steve.

I rarely write upbeat material. Feels nice to come up with something different!

This one actually started out as a ballad but I decided to play it faster when I came up with the chorus and "bluesy" transitions.

Thank you.

I own a bunch of recording here but never used it -- until I turned my iPad into a portable recording studio. The Apogée MiC and Duet have also changed my life.

Thanks! I use less reverb than in my early recordings -- but now I also add a bit of delay...

Thanks, Bob. The Yellow Rose has attended quite a few festivals -- Kinloch made a number of recordings with it -- but now it peacefully sits in my living room...

Haha! Interesting choice to attribute your influence to. I'm not sure if I'm too young to know her or just plain ignorant

Thanks, Bill. I worked really hard on the arrangement for this one. I wish I had more time to write and play...

Hi Mau,
Saw your song posted earlier today, but didn't want to rush with listening so I've waited till tonight. It was worth the wait!!
This is one for your future CD.....for sure. Just great melodic phrases and "change ups" which once again surprise and please the ears. Just super.
Thanks once again for your hard work in bringing this to us.
Fred

Thanks so much, Fred.

I tend to rush my compositions and need to slow down. That's what I did with this piece as I carefully wrote every bar.

I try to come up with easy listening music with an "edge" (whatever that means). Next tune will be a slow ballad. I've been meaning to write a slow tune for a while now but got distracted along the way.

Here's my new arrangement of Turlough O'Carolan's classic, "Si Bheag Si Mhor".

When I first became interested in fingerstyle guitar, I did a rather pale semi-copy of Todd Hallawell's beautiful arrangement. That was a few years ago and since then I've developed my own style (for better or worse) and I also use a different tuning (a lot of people would use DADGAD or drop D whereas I use EBD#F#BF#).
