2nd Blue Bell recall in 6 months right? Sounds like the factory needs a good scrubbing.

As I understand, it's coming from the dairy products, milk/cream if you will.

Tillamook Dairy Ice Cream!! OMG! If you are in the Northwest you know what I mean. Turkey Hill Ice Cream from Lancaster PA. is worth a try too.

When I was an OTR trucker, I hauled a few loads out of Blue Bell. A class operation. They have a drivers waiting room with a large freezer full of ice cream. Eat all want. You can even take as much as you can carry with you. The only problem is that while you obviously have a reefer trailer if you're hauling ice cream. They put a seal on the trailer that must not be removed until final destination. And most truckers don't have a freezer in the truck. So it's pointless to take any more with you than you can eat in 15-30 minutes.

BTW, let me break this down for the Yankees among us.
Blue Bell closing doesn't mean that we are down one brand of ice cream.
In the south it means....WE ARE OUT OF ICE CREAM!

Jeni's ice cream, a local deluxe ice cream around here also just recalled here for listeria. They aren't as big a Blue Bell, but it has to hit them hard as well.

I wonder if these companies have insurance to cover these incidents?

We went grocery shopping yesterday. Looked at the various brands of Ice Cream still on the shelves. Passed. Bought a box of Brownie mix instead. But we still have our twice weekly Braum's Chocolate Shake tradition. Wed. and Sat. nights.
Braum's chocolate shakes are made with chocolate ice cream. Then ADDED chocolate syrup. They are simply the BEST shakes ever devised. We buy them and then freeze them. And eat them with spoons later. I get a large and the wife gets a medium.

Man, you guys are hard core loyal! I make the trip to Holsten's Ice Cream in Bloomfield NJ once in a while. Google the name, this is where they filmed the last episode of the Soprano's in NJ. Been going there since I was a kid. True homemade in the basement as it was for years. Butter Pecan is outstanding.

We're talking about store brand ice cream. It's like if you were a Coke fan and it went away. And everyone said "Well's there's always Shasta Cola".
It's "cola". But it's not the same.

Yeah, I know. But when you want to treat your family to something a bit different it's good to have someplace special. Lots of pizzeria's here in NJ. Some towns have two to a block. But many are mediocre at best. A good wood fire /brick oven place is a real treat and few and far between.
