Default Eclipse Day !

I don't have to travel, it's coming here.

Just like the last one.

I heard about $500 motel rooms.

Crazy...

My son is at an eclipse festival in Texas. We're outside the zone here so to find some darkness I can just play some Tom Waits

We're in the path of totality and are playing an outdoor gig from 2-5pm Of course Jonathan Edwards 'Sunshine' and 'Ain't no Sunshine' will feature in our set list today. It's cloudy here today so we'll just get darker gray....

Mother nature's not cooperating in the Texas hill country...cloudy, severe weather risk...etc.
Lots of out of state folks in town.
Me? Sitting here in outpatient surgery room waiting on the doc. May get lucky if doc finishes up and there's a break in the clouds.
Ps---Texas Eclipse Festival 2024. Reveille Peak Ranch Burnet Tx. Has been canceled early due to weather concerns...uggghhh, can you imagine???? I'd be a bit upset.

We should have about a 90% partial where I am...

Mama always told me not to look into the eyes of the sun...
But mama... that's where the fun is!

I guess I dodged a bullet, then! I thought about traveling to visit a friend in Austin, but the logistics (4 days of driving for one day there) just didn't work out. We'll get about 60% occlusion here, which still causes cool shadows and is neat if you have eclipse glasses.

The next totality is in Iceland in 2026... maybe that will be worth traveling for! Even if it's cloudy, you're still in Iceland.

The Eclipse is coming over to the McKnight Guitar shop. We are located in the center which we are told we shall see almost 4 minutes of cold and darkness.

It's a great way to share this personal favorite day. Coffee and brownies with nuts are included.

I had no idea, just read (after reading your post) that temps can drop 10 degrees in the path of totality. I mean it makes sense, I just wouldn't have thought it would happen in a few minutes. Really interesting.

Pretty good weather in Vermont, worth the trip, we got here Saturday, have the new guitar along for entertainment as we await the event.

Gonna be overcast where I am in Oregon. Last one in 2017 wasn't total either, but it was interesting to see the daylight go dim mid-day. Instead of looking up the whole time like everyone else, a friend of mine photographed intricate shadows on the ground under a leafy tree. Captured a cool repeating pattern effect. I was hoping to see that today, but alas...

My son in Texas lives in the path of totality, but it's cloudy there too.

We’re under 90 minutes now with just high wispy clouds, but storm front is coming. Figures crossed that it holds off just a couple hours more. This will be my one (and probably only) totality experience. I’m kinda of psyched to tell the truth

Here in Indy we will be 100%. Going to set up the lawn chair in my front yard in about 20 min. Possibly a little cloudy but should be ok.

My wife has some eclipse glasses. Went outside and saw a corner of the sun blocked out. Pretty cool. Never seen one before, never really paid much attention. Lasts longer than I'd have expected.

That's how I feel. I wouldn't go to see an eclipse (or anything else) unless I would otherwise travel there. Totality is around 4 minutes so to drive or fly somewhere for such a short time and unsure weather and end up somewhere just for the eclipse isn't for me. I have friends who packed up and went but I believe all changed their destination locations due to weather.
