Welcome to the fold. As far as I know they are still available. My local GC still has them in stock.

I'm pretty sure both MMV models are still in production. I was in a GC two weeks ago and there were quite a few available. Most just sitting in boxes.

I was playing a 000-MMV just 2 weeks ago at a GC in Towson, Maryland USA. It was brand new hanging on the wall. An excellent guitar. I'm amazed they don't feature them more.

Since GC doesn't promote the Martin Custom 000 MMV, I guess it is up to us owners to sing it's praises. GC doesn't even identify it on it's web site or catalogue. It really makes it hard to find objective info or customer reviews for this great guitar The D MMV does appear on GC catalogue and at Musicians Friend.
I'm not a great player or knowledgeable guitar reviewer but the MMV is winning the playing time battle against my repaired 1975 D28! |

Well, talk about digging up an old thread. I just wanted to see what others were saying about these because I picked one up for the first time today and feel like I could pull the trigger.
I've never played a Martin that spoke to me like this one did. I played it for nearly an hour: about 45 minutes in D#BC#F#G#C# (a half step down from ECDGAD- a favorite of Andy Mckee). The guitar just rumbled in my lap like a purring kitten. It was the most gorgeous woody Martin tone I've ever heard from such a comfortable body. Wow is all that I can say- seriously considered trading in my nearly 7 year old Breedlove but changed my mind when I came home to play it. LOL! Still, very nice 000! |

I played one about a month ago that was spectacular. I understand the predicament you find yourself in! It got me thinking I need rosewood in my life! They are very nice guitars! I'm still waiting to pull the trigger on one or a Larrivee OM-03R.

I'm not in the market for that spendy a guitar...yet.
But I a/b'd one against a DRS. The MMV beat the brakes off the DRS. If I was in the market, I'd likely buy one. I'm at the point in my playing where I'm not ridiculously picky about the name in the headstock. I want the best sound for the a reasonable price. I can finally, in my tiny mind, justify up to about $1500 for a guitar. So, the MMV is on the short list.

played a used one at GC today - wow - great sustain, easy to play, and built in Nazareth, with an ebony fretboard, ebony bridge and a solid, one-piece rosewood back - I had the acoustic room to myself, went through everything yet kept going back to the 000-MMV - an affordable 000 that has the volume of a dread - truly, Martin's best kept secret - I had to pull the trigger...

I had one, really liked it. I did the same thing playing several different om/000's
and ended up with that one. Only sold it to fund another guitar. |

do you know what MMV stands for?

It had something to do with Roman numerals for GC's anniversary or something of that nature.
I think. :-)

MMV = 2005, the first year GC ordered the Customs from Martin. The 2013+ MMVs are made w Richlite fretboards, I believe.

I played one of these tonight. The strings were a bit old but not too bad and I thought the guitar sounded and played great. Fretting and bend was very easy. I don't have big hands and the nut width, neck and scale are a very nice fit.
I want one! The ticket showed it was heavily discounted but the list in the store, if memory serves me, was about $100 higher than it is on line even though the selling price is the same. Can these be had for less than the advertised price seeing as they supposedly offer a heavy discount? Then again no one else but MF sells them right so they could say it's list is $2K.
