What Do I Have?
My wife and I are in the process of closing on a new house and I discovered a guitar mold and a bunch of tools in the basement. I have always wanted to build my own guitar so this is very exciting.
I found some documentation that I believe identifies the mold as coming from Kenneth Michael guitars. Can anybody tell me what guitar specifically this mold is for? Perhaps my priorities are misplaced but I want to buy the house now just so I can get the guitar mold and guitar building tools to convey. Who cares about the rest of the house? |

In order to view it, I saved the photo to my computer, then opened the file.
It looks like a 14 fret dreadnought mold. |

Why do you think these things come with the house? Personal property is not part of the real property.

Nice find! If I hit enough garage sales, I hope to stumble upon a closet full of this stuff, as well as a shelf carefully stacked with tonewood .. untouched since the '60s ...

Did you buy the house yet? I guess maybe what ever is left behind becomes yours, IDK? When we bought our last house they asked us if we wanted them to clean out the barn. I said no. There is some really cool stuff in it, and a lot of junk. But that was part of the deal. |

Can you unstack the pile and take pics separately. From here - it looks like an indeterminate pile of "guitar building stuff" and "bits and pieces"..

Looks like a kit build from KMG. Or possibly what's left from a bit build.

Definitely from a KMG success kit. You can post it here and get lots of
info. http://acousticguitarconstructionforum.com/index.php

Thanks for all the additional info, everyone.
I actually had a chance to speak with the owner about the kit. He built his first guitar at 79 years old! Seemed like a really cool guy and was very encouraging about trying out my hand. In regards to the request to unstack everything, we close in a few weeks, so I've not been able to fully inventory all the pieces and tools. It'll be a bit, but once I take on a build project I'll share all the warts here! |
