Default ARTISAN GUITAR SHOW April 8-10, 2022 - Who’s Going?

I wanted to see who from AGF was planning on attending the Artisan Guitar Show in Harrisburg, PA on April 8-10, 2022?

https://artisanguitarshow.com/

I am planning on attending.

I have attended the shows in 2017, 2018 and 2019 in the past. It is a fun weekend full of exhibitors, classes, concerts and plenty of social interaction between players and builders. Everything occurs at the Best Western Premier Hotel & Conference Center so it is a logistically easy weekend (once you are there, you’re there).

This year there are 45 luthiers and guitar companies plus 12 other types of exhibitors (Tonewood, Cabinets/Stands, Amps, Magazines/Books, Inlay, Insurance etc.). I see a number of AGF sponsors and frequent posters are exhibiting.

I will be performing a 50 minute duo set that Saturday with Harp guitarist Matt Thomas representing Michael Kent O'Brien guitars, he's a real wizard with a long history studying/teaching music and instrument making.

These are the two instruments we will be playing, I'm pretty sure. (time to start practicing on a 12-fret!)

I'll be there, doing my X-ray and CT-scan shtick about the evolution of the steel-string guitar.

I'm looking forward to seeing folks and playing some music!

Hello John,
You're a really a mobster in disguise, eh?

Battling cancer, chemo & Covid, but still biking your butt off and playing out in public??

I'm way past impressed. You're an inspiration to us all!

John Detrick booked me to do a clinic & a performance at The Artisan Show, but I've cancelled because I'm just not ready to put myself in that sort closed area, close proximity situation, and besides: Our kids may well be coming down from Toronto around the same time for our grandson Emerson's 2nd birthday, and I'm just not taking any chances with their health!

I've already had it once, and that was enough.

Be well, stay well, and give 'em hell, John!

best,
Howard

Thanks for the kind words, my friend!

It's been far too long since we've seen one another. We need to rectify that.

It's a bit of a hike for me...probably about 4 hours, but I may try to swing it. Ideally I'd head out Thursday night, either drive partway home Friday night or do the whole trip back on Saturday.

I will be there on Sat & Sun. I have not been to this event. Sounds like a lot of fun. Will bring a few guitars with me too.

I am delighted to see that others are planning on going...

The 2020 and 2021 shows were canceled due to the ongoing pandemic. The gentleman who organizes this show is passionate about the guitar community and has shown great stamina and fortitude to keep it going. It is of course understandable that people are cautious to return to events where we congregate given the past two years. I am hopeful, we are moving into an endemic phase and guitar community can come together again at shows like this La Conner, Rocky Mountain and Woodstock later this year.

Stop by the McKnight booth for a free gift until supplies run out. You can tell your wife you own "a piece" of a McKnight guitar. She will appreciate her flower as (y)our thank you. Or just tell her you went fishin' for the day.

The McKnight offer is very kind! Thanks so much!!!

I’ve convinced two of my buddies to go and I might add another one or two from my neck of the woods ( North Carolina )……

Sure would be nice to have an informal AGF meet and greet? “Us peoples from the Deep South are kind and friendlies”

LOL
