links don't work and a photo would help. You may also find alot of opinions at the www.umgf.com under the "vintage" forum. Those guys really do know their Gibsons.

Great reference on vintage Gibsons:
http://home.provide.net/~cfh/gibson.html

Sounds like an L-00 from between 1942-1947. Is the FON on the neck block or the back?

At first pass and with no pictures here's what I think:

-the red penciled numbers should have faded by now -you're lucky!
-red penciling indicate WW2 era.
-first 4 numbers are the batch #, followed by the sequence #
-no more then 46 instruments at a time in a WW2 batch and you have #34

as far as whether it's an L0 or an L00 we'll need pics as the L0 was discontiuned in 42' and the L00 was discontinued in 45'

lotsa info here:

Guessing late 1930s L-00 (because of the 14 frets).

Maybe this will help some.
No "the" on logo for both L-0 and L-00 1932 on.
L-0 enlarged to 14 3/4" wide and 14 frets 1932 on. Bound top and back. Discontinued 1933. Reintroduced 1937 to 1942.
L-00 14 3/4" wide and 14 frets and bound top all and introduced 1932. Bound back 1937.

Factory Order Numbers 1908 to 1923 4 digits
Factory Order Numbers and Letter Codes 1935-41
Factory Order Number of 3 or 4 digits followed by hyphen and 1 or 2 digits ink stamped on neck block 1942-47

Last edited by brian a.; 06-24-2010 at 08:00 AM. Reason: updated factory order number info

OK, I'm stumped.

Can't tell a whole lot from your pictures but the firestripe guard and white script logo indicates no later than 1942. The two digits in red after the first four numbers are associated with guitars made during WWII (generally defined as 1942-1945). On the other hand, the 2000 FON number would place the guitar as a a pre-War instrument - made in the late 1930s up to around 1940. Then again, wartime guitars could be real screwy.

Most L-0s I have seen have been black which is why I am guessing L-00.
