I used to wear watches all of the time as a kid. I stopped wearing one when I was about 19 when I started playing the drums. I didn't like it flopping around on my wrist.

I bought myself a decent Fossil watch whenever I graduated with my undergrad degree in 2002. I think I wore it for a year. It's in a drawer somewhere. I haven't worn one since. I still play drums though.

I collect and work on mechanical watches, mostly from the former Soviet Union. They're a lot of fun, and the good ones could rival just about anything from the Swiss or Germans. I also have an affinity for the Bulova Accutrons from the late 60s/early 70s. The Chinese makers are turning out some great stuff these days as well.

Though I try to wear a fitness tracker most of the time, I miss wearing a real watch. Quartz watches typically don't do much for me, but I bought a nice Bulova chrono from the Military collection on sale during the holidays. It has the high accuracy quartz movement and has become one of my faves.

Seiko SKX007 - My everyday watch
Squale 1521 Polished Blue - My fun watch
Seiko Alpinist Sarb017 - Everyone should have an Alpinist
Tissot Couturier - Dress Watch
Android Automatic Open Face - It's big and heavy.
Citizen Blue Angel - My first nice watch. I think I wore this watch 14 years until the band broke. The band cost almost as much as the watch. It's in my safe now.
Fossil Titanium Chrono - I've had this watch a long time

Wearing this Fitbit I received for Christmas. It's great, but the thought of charging a watch ever 2-3 days is annoying. If they got together with Citizen and put eco-drive or whatever on these things it would be perfect...

The current Eco-drive wouldn't be able to keep with a smart watch.

Charging has not been an issue or bother as I thought it might be. At least that's for the Apple Watch. It just needs to sit with the wireless charge unit when I charge my phone.

Well, I was pretty sure I was seeing a lot more of these things and remain feeling sure the watch industry is fundamentally changed.

This doesn't take away my living mechanical watches and fountain pens.

Default watch me

I have a Suunto altimeter. It does all sorts of things if you can figure it out. Mostly I use it for date and time, weather (since it measures altitude - which I use daily - and altitude displayed is a function of air pressure, it also lets me know when highs and lows move in).

You can always take up banjo, time doesn't matter to those guys.

Just wanted to ask if anyone is wearing NATO bands? I like Hamilton watches, but I have a cheap work watch and a company provided Swiss Army. All have NATO bands. I find these bands don't destroy the cuffs on my heavy starched shirt cuffs.

I need to replace the band on my Orient Mako - think I’ll give a NATO band a try this time. It seems appropriate for a watch of this style.

Artstyle is the brand I have been using. They are thick and have good hardware. Amazon has them.

This Hamilton is my favorite. I'm on the list for the Tudor Black Bay 58.
