I think I can make it happen! Will you be exhibiting?

Yes, we have a table. It will be mostly our satin stuff, but hopefully a few shinies if all the finish work lines up for us.

It'll be nice to meet you and see your guitars!

Default Dion Model NO.04: Birdseye, Engleman

I'll finish making blocks and join this rim tomorrow. Off to the garden for the remainder of the day!

Engleman spruce is my favourite soundboard wood, here's a nice example.

The top and back are fit to the rim. I'll do little glue clean up tomorrow and then close the box. I'm very excited to see this new model in guitar form.

Beautiful clean work, truly a shame to cover it up!

If it's not too late to vote, I'd say use Ebony. It looks great against maple, and performs better as a fretboard.
There's $.02 for ya.

Hey Steve, Thanks for your input. I appreciate and I'm flattered that a builder of your caliber is checking out my thread. When you say that ebony performs better as a fingerboard, are you speaking just to the hardness as it relates to ware or is there another function that you believe the ebony performs better at as well?

I love the look of the insides of the guitar too, wouldn't hold the strings very well with out the top though! Thanks for looking at the thread. Hopefully you'll find it appealing as a finished instrument too.
