Replace neck binding without remove the frets.
Just a thought, has anyone tried replacing the binding on the neck without having to remove the frets? I have a guitar with old plastic binding and imagine it would look better with ebony bindings to match the fingerboard.

Just like there ain't no free lunch, there ain't no shortcuts while replacing fingerboard binding. The frets will need to come off, and the neck, too. Bring money.

Gibson installs the frets first and then installs the binding on the Les Paul for example so that it can have those classic Gibson fret end nibs. I don't see why you would have to remove the frets. It does depend on how well the original fret job was done as to whether this job is a PIA or not. It may require a lot of filing. But it can't hurt to try.
