I Did ask you to ADD to the list.
Well this is going pretty well 75 pages in about 12 hours.
But we are repeating ourselves a lot. No more repeats, just add names of the sooooo many fine female musicians here. However, I certainly think I've made my point that the ladies should not be regarded as a minority in our brotherhood ....no ...that's not the right term is it?

Check out Gabriella Quevedo. She's a Swedish girl who is shaping up to be a young, female Tommy Emmanuel.

As a fan of the country blues idiom I think Jessie Mae Hemphill and Precious Bryant are two of my favorite artists.
Etta Baker is a rather wonderful piedmont-style guitarist too. I would mention Bonnie Raitt again but it will make @silly moustache cross Interesting to see so much love for Samantha Fish in this thread. As someone who usually really likes stuff like cigar box guitars and RL Burnside covers I can never get my head around why her work leaves me so cold.

I don't think anyone has mentioned Molly Tuttle yet. Her clawhammer guitar is pretty wild! And she's great full stop

Don't want to piss off Mr Moustache, but he mentioned her so it might be okay. Tai Wilkenfeld is just amazing. My usual rule is anything less than 6 strings (ukes, banjos, violins, field dulcimers (not hammered) is cheating and doesn't count. But I will make an exception for Tai - she is simply amazing. She is up there with Jaco, Ron Carter and Danny Thompson at the top of the list of my favorite bass players. She is beyond good.
And one guitar player who was mentioned before - Ellen McIlwaine. An amazing slide player and singer! I think she still plays on occasion, but the last I heard she was driving a school bus. She used to do killer versions of 'It Wasn't God Who Made Honkey Tonk Angels' and Stevie Wonder's 'Higher Ground'. |

If we are counting bassists, we can not overlook Carol Kaye.

Out of all the famous ones I've seen here, I'd say KT Tunstall.
However, there are a bunch of young ladies on YouTube who are amazing. |
