Default Collings D1 or Collings 01E?

Been doing a lot of research and these two models are giving me some serious GAS! They are in the same price range as the Martin HD28V I was looking at, but something about these Collings guitars are unique.
So I like the Collings D1 for it's dread look and sound/feel
BUT the 01E is beautiful and the sunburst is stunning. Also loved the way this thing played/sounded.
So I'm looking for advice. I play a lot of chords like old Hank Williams, but also do a fair amount of fingerpicking.
Would one work better than the other?
I really like the 01E, but am afraid it will look too small and look like a toy on a bigger guy like me.
The HD28V is slowly getting left behind. haha. Would never have found these guitars without this forum.
Thanks
Edwin

I'd choose, and did choose, the D1.

There's only so much you can do with a 0 sized body, but no limits on the dread.

And if you're strumming and picking the 0 won't make you happy in the long run. Heck an OM couldn't make me happy!

There's a D1 in the classifieds now for an excellent price.

There are some small shop builders (like Collings, I would suspect) whose OM's can handle some serious strumming. However, if what you want is a dreadnought, than an O or an OM won't fulfill you- get a D.
I love the OM body style, personally. It can handle such a wide variety of playing (as can a D) but with a more comfortable body to play.

I think I'm going to give the 01 another chance. I am usually a dread guy, but I really dig the better contoured body and the SB finish.
Thanks
Edwin

That was my dream, but never found one so I got the natural D1, it's amazing.
