For playing classical or something else?
You might consider a used cordoba GK Studio which can be bought with electronics.

I bought the Fusion 12 in maple and love it. If you want to get that nylon sound for latin, classical, etc but dont want the wider flat neck, this crossover model is the way to go. Check their site, Cordobaguitar.com

I have a Cordoba C12 and i absolutely love it, it is an incredible guitar with such precise sound. I totally fell in love with that brand, they are amazing.
You might also consider the Yamaha Silent Guitar, which is an amazing classical guitar (i still have one from my appartment days), especially if you live in an appartment where you can't disturb the neighbours too much.... You can use it with headphones or with an amplifier, it doesn't have a body. |

Yes, it happens when the wood is not dry enough, it retracts after the frets have been put on :/

Patrice, I'm looking to upgrade from my LaPatrie Etude, and the Cordoba Luthier series is on my list. Can you give me a comparison between the C10 & C12 playing wise and sound wise? From the specs, it looks like the big difference is in the bracing. Thanks........Jack.

I have the GK Studio Negra. Slightly more expensive but honestly I love it coming from steel string. Not as wide nut as classical and the bass of a flamenco (category it falls under). Got it at Sam @$h. Love it!

bracing. The C12 also has a design on the wood at the back. I own a C10 and when I bought it I tried the C12 limited and for me it was very hard to notice any major difference in the sound to warrant a 700.00 price difference. I am very happy with my C10 and will not change in the foreseeable future. If your budget permits it and you are a very advanced player then I would get the C12. Good Luck. Regards Norman2 PS> I owned a Manuel Rodriguez C3 but used it as a trade in for my C10 at Guitar Center

note : I am an intermediate/beginner player, so my ear is not that good yet. For me the C10 sounded like an expensive student guitar, notes were quite out of tune as you played down the neck (happens a lot on cheaper guitars or when the action is too high). The C12 sounded to me like a luthier guitar, it responds instantly thanks to the lattice bracing, the bass are incredible and it has the little dots on the side (most classical guitars don't have that, but for me it's useful). No distortion of notes as your played down the neck, and the sustain... OMG notes last forever !!!! I have been looking a long time for a guitar like that ( 2 years to be precise), when i found it, i fell in love with it in 10s. Played 2 chords, and it was sold. |

In that price range I haven't played any Cordoba that sounded good to me. The most expensive one I have played so far was $900 and that one was still not so hot. I have played quite a few older Yamaha and Aria classical guitars that sounded much better than the Cordobas I have played, and you can buy them used for a lot less than $500.
For $500 you can buy a used Yairi. I think you will get more for your money that way.
