List has no credibility as far as I am concerned. Music is not a contest.

This particular list is ancient. It's flattering to be included but the reality is that music is not a horse race.

Michael Chapdelaine ranked lower than Craig Chaquico?! Who made this list, a Starship fan?!

Well, not sure of the standings, nor the quest for contest, but it's a good list to hang onto for future reference and for listening to those who have channels.

On a different point, it is likely a popularity/awareness tally from those who were asked to participate in the polling. It doesn't really matter. |

That's for sure - and since my own differences of opinion have already been enumerated by other posters I won't restate them...

Michael Hedges is head and shoulders above anybody else when it comes to the acoustic guitar and musicality. Nobody comes close. One of a kind.

100 Greatest Acoustic Guitarists
Quote:
Well, declarations such as this (the second paragraph) are (I believe) just another symptom of the underlying animosity that these “list” threads engender. Hedges’ music fascinated me, but it did not move me. That said, I fully agree with your first sentence. OTOH, and if we’re talking of contemporary steel-string fingerstyle players, Bensusan, for me (!), is the pinnacle...but I’m not into discussions of rank nor BEST...especially under these particular circumstances. Over a beer, maybe...with facial expressions, hand gesticulations, and immediate/interactive dialogue...! Personal. Subjective. As I began (a few pages ago), a list is a list. NBD.
