Pens lose 2-1. Both teams' goalies (DeSmith and Dell) were outstanding in this one. Sid had some glorious looks over the course of the game, but couldn't get one past Dell.
I take it that DeSmith looked good in his 2nd start?

DeSmith was outstanding! The Pens are fortunate to have incredible depth at the goaltending position. Perhaps the best of their prospects is goalie Filip Gustavsson who was the Silver Medal winning goalie for Sweden in the U20 World Junior Championships this season.

Pens beat the 'Canes 3-1 behind a stellar performance from goalie Casey DeSmith. Sid got an assist to tie Jaromir Jagr on the Pens all-time point list.

Bruins up on the Devils 3-2 with about a minute left. Go Bruins!!!

Marchand has a phone call hearing for an elbow last night. He's having a great season and he does another bonehead move.

Just can't help himself? It is confounding that such a skilled player does this on an almost regular basis. Really too bad.

It is a shame. I remember his last suspension. The Bruins were doing great, he got suspended, missed the outdoor game, and the Bruins slumped.

Marchand got a 5 game suspension. It's steep but given his history it's justified, IMO.

Wow 5 games! I didn't see the hit, but Marchand being a previous offender must have been a factor in the decision. Really sucks for the Bruins. In the end that kind of play is not only dangerous, it's a bit selfish as well. Hope the Bruins can continue their winning ways without him.

Yeah, there is something wrong with Marchand. Has been for quite a while. And his timing is always perfect, he always seems to wait until there's a minute left and you're clinging to a 1 goal lead.

Both Pittsburgh and Boston play tonight (not each other). Going to be some scoreboard watching. Hoping Boston can still score goals without Marchand.

Pens up on the Wild 4-0 after 2 period! Sid has 3 assists, but goal #400 is proving to be an elusive one. Casey DeSmith again looking great in goal.

Bruins down to the Sens 1-0 in the 2nd. Not looking like the Bruins are getting the offense going yet.

6-0 at one point before Minnesota scored 3 goals. Crosby has jumped into 9th in scoring and Kessel is 3rd.

Bruins win too!

Happy 57th Birthday Wayne Gretzky! Greatest hockey player of all time. Just amazing.

Did anyone follow Gretzky in his prime (other than myself)?

I never got to see Gretzky play when he was with the Oilers. Saw him a few times on TV when he was with the Kings, Blues and Rangers. Truly sorry to have missed most of his career, but my life circumstances unavoidably took me away from hockey for a number of years. His accomplishments are an incredible testament to his greatness.

Happy Birthday Mr. Gretzky!

It's the All Star Week-end. Guessing that the Skills Competition is tonight. I enjoy that, especially the hardest shot. I'm not much a fan of the game anymore. Not like it was back in the '80s (and before) when it was more like a real game.

Cat - you watching any of the events?
