Default Stopped In At MacNichol Guitars

I had been meaning to take the time to get over to MacNichol's and try the Rainsong's to see if they were all that and a bag of chips. Tried all the models they had, probably no less than 7, as well as a few of the other brands (Emerald and Blackbird). I'm coming from having owned 8 Martin's and 4 Taylors, most were dreadnaughts so love that big strong sound. The 2 that did it for me were the dreadnaught Studio and Studio 12 fret Jumbo. They had all the richness and detail of the best wood guitars and superb high output without that "tubbiness" in the midrange all the other body styles tended to have. Now I just need to run into $2300. I currently have an excellent guitar, a Eastman E20D. The ONLY primary reasons I want to move into the Rainsongs is to rid myself of any concerns over maintenance of humidity control (I'm in a desert environment) and gain sustainable low action which the Rainsong's certainly have. Their sustain is just astounding let along the resounding clear bottom end. Puncy mids and sweet high's. Michael was great and already informed me they would put a nice bone saddle in it and get the action right where I'd want it. I just need to gather some funds over time so I'll see how it goes. At least I have a direction I know I want to go. I'm thinking most likely the Concert Series Dreadnaught will do it for me.

Enjoy the search.....you have an amazing shop to visit!

I am envious.

Would love to be able to stop by at MacNichols.....fortunately I can "almost" do that online....and with phone calls.

Mike and Jarrod are working on my Rainsong P14 "as we speak"......set up time....cannot wait.

I hope to get by the store next time I'm passing through that part of the country. I purchased my Rainsong from them, but the multiple email internet way. Would like to try some others. Michael was great to deal with. Guitar arrived with the bone saddle and was set up perfectly. Really enjoyed the experience.
