Are foot stands for classical players only?
Can I use a foot stand under my right leg for regular Delta blues acoustic playing?

I saw a 45 degree bent piece of sheet metal that you put on your lap and guitar seems like a foot stand would do the same thing

I use a classical style footstool often when playing seated, acoustic steel string or electric guitar. Using one under your left foot and placing the guitar's waist on your left thigh and the butt of the guitar on your inner left thigh is a more comfortable position for me.
Not particularly a "blues guitar" position as such, but I think it makes it easier for me to play up the neck as one might with a slide.

There is the footstool, a cushion style and a suction cup or magnate type brace that classical players use. All of these can be used with steel string to play other styles of music. The cushion type might be the least effective in holding up an acoustic guitar but in general feel free to try what you can find.

Footrests are absolutely inappropriate for playing Delta Blues and you should be ashamed of yourself for asking. If you need to elevate the foot, you should use either an empty beer crate or a dead dog, whichever is available at the time.

I understand how you feel, but I'm 67 and only play at home so I'm just looking for personal comfort not a cool look. Let's talk about stools and chairs. Is it more natural to sit on a tall stool and put your foot on the lower rung? Remember now this is for comfort not looks.

My wife gave me The Original Guitar Chair as a birthday present and I use the Neck-Up on all of my steel strings and my Cordoba nylon. Way more comfortable and stable to me than a foot stool plus that combo is better for my back.

Have you looked into "Neckup". I used a block of wood under my right foot for a long time, but my hip started to hurt from the sitting position. The Neckup is perfect and very comfortable; I can sit with both feet on the floor in a comfortable position, but with the guitar elevated.
You can see it in my video here: https://youtu.be/iQOvX46FjbM

Go to neckup.com to see it, and you can also see it in my video.
It is a piece of leather that sticks out and sits on you knee to elevate the guitar, with two suction cups to hold it in place.

foot stands are for anyone who feels they are ergonomically better off with them. i use one and don't play classical guitar. they take some of the pressure off the back. make sure you have proper back support also.
play music!
