I'd go so far as to say that doing something such as a body size change is not only very nearly impossible, it would be cost prohibitive even if you could find someone who would do it. The thought of it affects me rather strangely, as well.

The work to do such a thing would be in excess of that which would be required to build a new custom guitar. I can't imagine a luthier getting enthusiastic about such a job.

For goodness sake, why not buy the OM and either keep or sell the other one?

(EDIT: I think the OP a troll)

Yeah, probably. He waited almost a week to post after he joined up. I should have noticed that it was his/her first posting here.

It's a silly idea, isn't it?

Hi guys, sorry, it's been 3 years. I didn't know I got replies from you guys, I thought my question was ignored, since back then I guess I didn't check the notify by email box.

I posted a new thread and got helps from other members:

I hope you guys wouldn't think it's a troll thread, I am figuring out how to get this job done.

Thanks much for the inputs!

Cool Converting a Martin 0000 to an OM size?

What the OP is proposing is so ridiculous, I can't believe they are serious? If the guitar has sentimental value, leave it alone and go find an OM you like. Anything else make absolutely no sense!

People propose all kinds of ridiculous things when they don't understand the magnitude of the task. In this case, it means completely disassembling, rebuilding, and refinishing the guitar. It's certainly possible, although I can't say I've ever heard of such a thing being done. For a competent builder, I suspect the price would be $5K and up if you could even find someone who would take it on.

FWIW, I wouldn't do it.

A slightly more reasonable approach might be to remove the back and turn it into a wedge. It might also be possible to retrofit a bevel on the top edge. Not sure if either option would appeal to the OP, but it might make the guitar more comfortable without the over-the-top rebuild.

Default a stab in the back job

It's unanimous - folks don't like your idea. Patticake said exactly what I would say. The wedge idea is a neat one, but it may not work. When it is no longer at right angles to the sides, the back becomes a hypotenuse and would need to be a tad larger.

Although it is too big for me to hold but it have sentimental value for me and I wanna play it rather have it in the box.

I wanna keep the neck (change to a new fingerboard) and the top (with new binding and rosette and have it cut into OM size if it's possible) but everything else will be swapped out.

Can anyone please suggest a luthier for this conversion job?

How much do you think needa get the job done? 1k? 2k? 3k or more?

Many thanks =]
