I'm building a guitar out of Honduran mahogany with Lacewood bindings right now. I could not agree more with others that it's a fantastic combo. Beautiful looking instrument you are building there!

Strings are on and once she settles in a bit more I will do the final setup and send her on to a new home.

Thanks for looking

Great work Fred! I too love the mahogany/lacewood combination, as well as the clean look.

A very beautiful guitar...simple but elegant. That set of mahogany is sublime! I also like the bridge's slight nod to the modern.

Fred

As others have noted it looks like a very comfy guitar and the mahogany looks sweet.

May I ask, what the owner's style of playing is, and have you made a change to the string gauge you installed, considering the shorter scale ?

Jean

Ian plays mostly in DADGAd so we may have to make some string gauge adjustments, right now with lights it is quite playable but will probably end up with a larger bass string or even a True Medium gauge. We tested the other 00 13 fret with a capo on the 1st fret and tuned to DADGAD at the capo so simulated this setup and it worked quite well.

I am very pleased with the sonic result as the tone and power are equal to the other 00 13 fret. I hope to get a video posted later this week. I now have a condenser mic that I can use with my camera so hope to get better quality audio than I have been getting in the past.

As promised earlier I now have a video of the guitar. Recorded with my Canon Video camcorder with a Condenser mic plugged direct to the camera handling the audio. No audio processing just straight up as played.

I can not get the youtube thing working so here is a link to the video

Fred that sounds fantastic! What nice warm round sounds. I hear lots of bass for a small guitar. What gauge strings are you using for the short scale?
