Dan, thanks, no.
Folks, clearly this thread has gone cold. I'm close to just calling it a day. I enjoy difficult but not impossible trivia. The way to be successful, rather than throwing out a random guess, to do research online on the topic based on previous clues. Otherwise this could go on for weeks. The connection I'm looking for has been documented in news reports. It's not a huge story, but that's where I first heard about it. thanks, scott |

I have a series of books that breaks down each Beatles song into every category imaginable, History, Reason, dates, who wrote it, why, when, everything. That IS where I'm getting my information.

My sense is that this contest has about run its course. I've already given away one pick to acknowledge the first winner. These things should be fun, not annoying.
If anyone has any final guesses, I will let this go just a bit longer before revealing the answer. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions. I've moved this off the main board to give the contest a lower profile. thanks, scott |

Is this it?
The Beatles classic 'When I'm Sixty Four' among songs that 'can encourage health problems among the elderly'
Study says tracks with negative lyrics about growing old can affect the confidence of people later in life Songs with negative lyrics about growing old such as the The Beatles’ classic “When I’m Sixty-Four” can affect the confidence of people in later life and encourage health problems, researchers have said. While some tracks such as Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young” and Dusty Springfield’s “Goin’ Back” portray older people and ageing in a positive light, many songs represent the elderly in an unfavourable way. References to “losing hair” and “wasting away” in “When I’m Sixty-Four” could be having a detrimental effect on the health of the elderly, researchers have said. Just a guess from a recent new report - btw. although I am old and losing my hair, the song never negatively affected me that I know of Last edited by Montesdad; 09-26-2016 at 03:05 AM. |

Me too.
I already gave away one pick, and this thread has well earned its demise. Here's the answer. On his 64th birthday, Paul Simon picked up the phone to find Paul McCartney on the other end, at which point Macca sang "When I'm 64" to Paul Simon through the phone. Jimmer, our winner, found even a better example: Hillary Clinton contacted McCartney, and he did the same thing when Bill Clinton turned 64. Sorry no one got it. scott |

Now if only Paul Simon was a member of AGF right now he'd have a nifty new pic heading his way to help him play When I'm 64 while Macca sings it to the next person. |

I believe the occasion of the interview/profile in the NYT was Macca's own 64th birthday, but Paul Simon is about 15 months older than him, so he told the story. Pretty cool little narrative, and then the Bill Clinton one that you found was ever better. Jim, if you find the NYT story could you please past the link into the thread? I've got a terribly long day ahead of me here. BTW, Jim, I just finished packing your .70 and it will be postmarked today in Los Angeles. thanks! scott |

There are other mentions of it around the Internet, but here's the answer, as delivered in the NYT.

Hmmm...I think I saw that article and browsed through it but I must have missed the mention about Paul Simon. Pretty neat.
Here's the link about the Bill Clinton story: http://www.newyorker.com/news/amy-da...odbye-to-c-g-i Last edited by JimmerO; 09-28-2016 at 03:32 PM. Reason: Fixed link |

It has not arrived yet but I've been out of town so I wouldn't have been able to try it out anyway. I'll let you know when it does.
