1.75" - although not all are created equal (string spacing).
My Eastman OM is my best sounding guitar but the string spacing is tighter than on the RK - it is a tad wider, which is my preference.

I'm fine with either 1 11/16" or 1 3/4" - I voted 1 3/4" as I currently own more guitars with that nut width. I don't really notice that much of a difference between the two.

My preference is 1 13/16", or very slightly under that (1 25/32"). However, a lot depends on neck depth/contour and fretboard radius as well.

As a fingerpicker I prefer the 1 3/4" nut width. I've tried to do some of the same pieces 1 11/16 widths but found them unnecessarily difficult. I can't imagine how Leon Redbone plays that CF-100 of his with the 1 5/8" nut but I suppose anyone can get used to anything.

But it's a good point to know that nut width is only part of the equation. |

Ted, I answered 1 3/4". I prefer that, but profile is a much bigger thing for me and I've heard many others say the same. Necks that are too thin cause me hand fatigue after short time. My very favorite necks are full feeling 1 3/4" necks but I do just one on narrower necks with thicker profiles.

My favorite is 1 13/16, but get along with 1 3/4 and even 1 7/8 just fine. Not a huge fan of 1 11/16, but part of the equation is neck shape and finger spacing at the bridge.

When it comes to 12's, 1 7/8" is a comfortable spec. |

1 3/4 even though most of my guitars have the 11/16
I liked the narrower nut until I became a predominantly fingerstyle player

I picked 1 7/8 or 48mm, but what matters more is the strings spacing. Some 44mm nuts still have the same string spacing as a 42mm nut, which would be 35mm or 36mm string spacing. Thats really small compared to the string spacing of 48mm nut which is 42mm. It kind of sucks to have to deal with chunky finger tips since a lot of nice guitars are 42mm only :/, I did just acquire a couple of 12 strings guitars though and I will be stringing them up as 6 strings to see if I like them or not.

Lots of variables, not to mention back of neck contour and thickness of the neck... Overall 1 3/4" works for me

After playing the standard 1 11/16" Martin neck for well over 40 years, that's what I'm used to and prefer.

1 11/16" is my favorite but I am comfortable at 1 3/4 but beyond that the neck is just too fat for me.

I am happiest with 1 3/4" or 1 7/8". I can deal with 1 11/16 if the board has some radius to it and is not flat. Anything under that though is no starter for me.
