Default Holiday uplift on Open Mic

Is it just me, or do recent threads here seem less contentious? And is it because some of us "have the holiday spirit"? Or is it just a random fluctuation? Or maybe a positive effect related to the ongoing efforts of our devoted moderators (this option would get my vote)?

In any event, I like it.

Happy Holidays to all.

No, I think this is just the lull between closed threads. Often, when a few corkers have just been nuked, we lick our wounds for a few days before gathering the will to engage 'the other side' in virtual combat once more!

I think it has a lot to do with Cotten's renewed participation. His good vibe is contagious.

Was thinking' the same thing, though I'm sure Cotten will counter with some claim that the snow is just rotting our brain cells...

I'm sure the hostilies will continue after all the holiday spirits have been consumed! Seriously, lots of good debates and points to ponder on both sides of each subject. As long as we can agree to disagree like gentlemen all is well.

What scotch would that be? I wouldnt want to get the wrong scotch and end up sitting on the cold linoleum floor too drunk to move...that not the right stuff.

Nor would I want to drink the pompous, argumentative scotch that my uncle drank.

The seductive scotch that my first wife drank was not bad...but I'd really like the happy, non-contentious, uplifting scotch. Please.

I do think the good will of the season is helping to bring out our better angels. Certainly, having Cotten's involvement here is always a good thing, but I also think so many of us have gotten to know each other, at least virtually, that we can see where the discussions are heading and usually make corrections before things blow up. Or... turn into one of those midnight pumpkins that Marty (M19) was referring to on the Sony thread that is still active.

Happy Holidays to all!

- Glenn
