Default Rambling Blues - Woody Mann cover

This is a fun song. I recorded a short version. This song is like an erector set, you can add more sections, move them around and it will still be Rambling Blues.

It's recorded using my Gibson J-45 without the pick guard. Can you hear the difference

Terrific Barry! I'll say two things that I feel Woody would say (after working with Woody over the past five years, but of course I don't speak for him):

1. It's all there!
2. Don't be afraid to draw the sound out of the guitar i.e., attack those strings!

Hope you're feeling better and again great work!

Default Harmonics

I liked the Etude in Em well enough to learn it, and find I like to use 12th fret harmonics on the top 4 strings at the end of each section rather that just playing them open. I arpeggiate them slightly.

Easy, simple, quick and adds a very nice touch. Worth a try.

Thanks Arthur!

That Etude in EM is a neat little tune.

Thanks Doug!

My short term memory seems to be better now and I feel like I'm "connecting the dots" so to speak from the tab to my fingers faster and easier than before the stroke. I feel like John Travolta did in Phenomenon, lol.

I started on Woody's "Feeling Bad Blues" tonight and on next is Stefan Grossman's version of Willie Mae. Great stuff!

Default Etude in Em

Hey Barry,

Not only thanks for posting but am really enjoying learning the piece.

I love finding things that sound better than they are difficult to play.

I'm using Guitar Nick's tab:
http://www.guitarnick.com/study-in-e...l#Bookmark_tab

along with this video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohz4EHsR-9U

and VLC to slow down the video (slow down is under the "playback" menu):
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html

One of the things I found interesting was the way (on the video) he slides up from D7 to A at the 5th fret, leaving the fingers until placing the barre at the last moment. It connects the sound and is actually even an easier way to move into the next chord.

On the OM-18A with SCGC mid tension strings, it sounds great.

Glad to have found it here.

It's a cool piece. I may have to dust off the classical and play it again.
