Default Wood buttons for Gotoh 510s?

I'd like to replace the plastic buttons on my Gotoh 510s with wooden buttons.

The only wooden replacement buttons for Gotoh 510s I've found are at LMI in bloodwood, madrose and padauk (even though the product photo also shows some in snakewood).

Anybody know another source with ebony, and perhaps some other exotic woods? Thanks.

Contact Mr. Hatcher through the Custom Shop on the forum. He does a fantastic job with all sorts of imported and domestic woods.

I bought a set of these. Fit was a bit sloppy, so I glued a piece of wooden flat tooth pick inside the hole and pushed it on the tuner till the screw reached the threads. Then I tightened the screw until it seated the rest of the way. They fit perfectly, now. Link below

jmagill, Allparts carries ebony buttons for Gotoh tuners, and can get them in a few different shapes. LMI is probably a better source if you're looking for wood buttons that are a bit more exotic than ebony.

Allparts also has tortoiseshell plastic and ivoroid buttons for Gotoh tuners, which I have on a number of instruments, as well.

Jim,

if you want something really special, Laurie Williams in New Zealand hand carves buttons for gotoh 510s. They are much finer and more elegant than the originals and have a gloss finish. You choose the wood; he did red morrel burl buttons for my guitar and they are stunning. Not cheap mind you....

Thanks for the recommendation, Jab - I just ordered a set each of the snakewood full size and mini button sets. They look gorgeous in the photos; let's hope they're as impressive in real life.

Wow! They're nice - thanks for the link RBS

A word of caution. A luthier told me recently that Gotoh 510s have changed a little over the years. If you are thinking of adding new buttons to an older guitar it may pay to check with the supplier that they will be a good fit.
