Default Fishman Matrix Infinity question

If I have the volume and tone controls installed in my soundhole will I still be able to use a feedback buster?

unfortunately no. You can cut out a small section of the feedback buster to allow your finger to fit the controls. With most of the soundhole still being covered, there should not be a big difference in terms of feedback prevention

I use a LuteHole soundhole cover with my D-18 and Matrix Infinity. Works fine.

The answer is no, unfortunately.

The volume and tone module is actually removable (process reversible). Alternate setting (opening enclosure and flipping switches) in the endpin preamp is needed. Instruction on page 2

If you are looking for a way to fit a cover without modifying either the guitar or the cover, I am sorry to say it is not quite possible

I'm curious. Which one of those lutehole cover designs is giving you access to the volume & tone controls? (#11 looks like a possibility.) Did you need to make alterations to your lutehole cover?

FWIW, I know a very accomplished guitarist who swears by his lutehole cover (as opposed to swearing at it). When he needs it, he can get industrial strength amplification from his rig.

You can place special orders on Lutehole and they basically build you whatever you want.
I will let pmarino to give you the correct answer but I will guess you still don't have acess to the controls. The covers are shallow enough that it snaps on without reaching the thumbwheels

You obviously cannot access the controls, but the LuteHole covers are quite shallow and don't interfere with the controls when in place. I also used one regularly with a Blueridge I used to own that also had a Matrix Infinity. The key is simply making sure that you get the right cover based on your soundhole size. Their website offers precise ordering of sizes, so you should be fine. That's been my experience, anyway.

Thanks for the follow-up. I get you now. The lute soundhole cover doesn't interfere with the controls, so they can still be installed and ready for possible use on occasions when a soundhole cover isn't needed.

Its too bad that Fishman doesn't make a simpler version without the VTC, for folks who prefer to use the more capable tone controls, the more fine-tunable volume control and the other added features of an outboard preamp.

Yeah, I almost always use the Matrix Infinity with a Fishman Aura pedal, so I basically just set the VTC to full volume and somewhere near the mid-scoop area (tone control) and then just deal with the Aura image and EQ with the pedal. At least the LuteHole cover works.
