I took a break from this forum (well, at least the classifieds section) for a couple years. During that time, I didn't buy or trade any guitars. I sold a few locally, and trimmed down to just a few guitars. Started checking the classifieds here a few months ago, and KABLAM. I've got eight guitars, and have rotated four or five in and out.

Clearly, I have compulsion issues. My GAS is directly related to seeing all the cool guitars available, that I want to try.

It checks all the boxes for me, and with that beautiful, butter-like neck and and the bonus of amazing sound when plugged in, I can't see a need for anything else. I'm aware how few here would make an Ovation their one-and-only "go-to" but for me, I couldn't be happier.
Same here, except my one-and-only acoustic is an Ovation Balladeer. A 1990s American made model. I'm very contented with it.

I personally don't think GAS is a terribly healthy thing. YMMV!!

I'm GAS free....after buying my last guitar about 10 years ago, a Martin OM28V. It's all I ever play. The rest (some beauties) just sit in the case.

Well, I have five acoustics now, I'm down from 12. I think I can realistically do with two, a dread and an OM (for comfort).
Pierre Bensusan said on one of his interviews, that he had only one guitar for a long time. Not even a backup. He definitely made good music with no GAS

I own 7 acoustic guitars. Since I bought my Gibson about 3 months ago, she's the only one I've been playing.

If I had to get down to only one, my Gibson would be the one.

And I could be content with that if it was necessary... but only if necessary.

Best,
PJ

I currently only have one acoustic that I play and one electric. My Taylor 414ce and an Epiphone Les Paul 100. Though I do have an old Hondo that is in rough shape and I'm fixing it up to be a campfire/beater guitar.
Having so few guitars is probably more of a result of being a poor college student though haha

I used to think about selling it all off and buying a vintage L-00 or something... just devote all my heart, soul and playing into one sole instrument.

Well, I never exactly got there. In the intervening years I became a family man and had to sell off a lot just for financial reasons, though I also stopped gigging and most recording. A flood claimed several nice instruments in 2010, etc.

Although I came very close, and right now own very few instruments, I never had "The One" instrument all my efforts were focused on.

How about you? Anyone own just one guitar that fulfills them with no plans to buy more?

If so, what is it?

If not, is it something you ever consider? What would your ONE be?

Nope, I have a houseful of various guitars!

But, after getting a pair of Lowdens from the early 90s, I am thinking the top of the line Lowden F50 with probably African Blackwood, Sinker Redwood could cover it all! Might have to trade all plus house and car, but you know, that ONE guitar could be the answer.

I wonder what it would be like for slide time? Oh, oh, need a slide guitar too....

I have only one acoustic a Yamaha A3M , I went through a several month spree buying, returning and sailing guitars to find the one...
at one time I had 9 guitars in the house...
But once I found the Yammy I knew it was the one... Sure it isn't perfect but it's closer than the rest..

I don't have much GAS and the Gas I have is for stuff I don't want to afford like a CEO-7 but I'd like to play one, that might cure my slight Gas for it....

The Yamaha reminds me of a GS mini in Rosewood just more of a refined tone and a bigger sound of course...

Gas....NO
Curiosity.....YES
