Default EQ and what it does

copied this out of a Boss EQ User Manual from yester-year. Notice how complex it is, compared to todays super easy to read manuals

It's funny how for most of the bands suggests boosting. The 62Hz one made me chuckle ... "By cutting this band hum noise can be removed"

... in my experience it's better to find the culprit causing the hum. I've never been able to successfully EQ out hum without destroying the tone ... and so I don't even try. I think the only solutions is really to eliminate it at source.

I think that's actually rather useful, especially for those who are new to EQ.

60 cycle hum (and its harmonic at 120) is a common specific problem in the power supplies of audio gear, and it's also below the lowest fundamental of a guitar, so cutting there to reduce noise makes good sense.

Boosting for "reverberation" at 31 hz, however, is a very strange suggestion.
