Anyone know what the wattage for these is? That or at least what size audience it is rated to handle? Does it have as much coverage as an L1 compact?

Powerwise, it will probably be in the league of Mackie freeplay, Laney AH4x4, Fishman minni charge, Elite Acoustics Engineering... and all other battery powered amps just a bit more expansive because it is Bose. The Li-ion battery is stated to last 6h... Don't expect 300W. On the introduction video you see the battery room size. It's not that big. Can't wait to try it. I don't mind the extra $$ if it outperforms my Laney AH4x4. Only problem for me is no phantom power (as usual). I am not sure a dynamic mic in the Bose can beat my Shure Beta 87a in the Laney. But if it has more headroom ... Cuki

I totally agree with Cuki, it all comes down to headroom in the end. I'm looking at the S1 Pro as a possible replacement for my Roland AC-33 which I'm maxing out on 8xAA cells. Even with the reinforcement of an additional Laney's AH4x4, I'm still having trouble being heard during busking sessions.
Bose's Soundlink Mini was a technical marvel at volume output so I'm hoping the engineering somehow translates to this new unit. It sounds really similar in tonality and seems to go pretty loud in the video. It's a pity there isn't an EQ knob for mids and there isn't a 8" woofer + 5 articulated cones version! |

For this class of battery powered amp, I am over the moon happy with my Elite Acoustics D6-8.

I have a Cube Street EX which in many aspects is awesome, but I really feel it lacks in the bottom especially when it comes to the vocals. And this is despite the EX having dual 8" woofers. But this feeling of it lacking the bottom is when I compare it to my Yamaha DXR10, and I do realise this is not a fair comparison! :P
I really would like to have a battery powered option with better low-end response than the Cube Street EX, and what I wonder is if the Bose S1 with it's 6" woofer or the Loudbox Mini Charge with it's 6.5" has some "magic way" of beating the Cube Street EX' dual 8"?!? Thanks! /Per |

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbYAX82AKrM You will get more bass from the replacement speakers. I think it comes at the expense of a less balanced output overall but that is, of course, a matter of opinion. And remember bass requires watts. Which requires power. With 8 AAs you can only go so far even with a speaker mod. If there is magic involved, Bose will be there to provide it. hunter |

Just ordered one from Sweetwater. Will arrive 1/28. Will post my thoughts once I play with it.

Hope I find it at NAMM this week... looks cool... might be fun to get one and compare my Bose Compact and Center Point Space Station V3... I need a bit of bass when switching to me keyboard and get the walking bass left hand thing going (when I am not chewing gum of course).

It's twice less loud than the L1 compact (3dB difference) and nearly half the horizontal coverage (normal speaker horizontal dispersion)
From Bose new Brochure (I just removed the L1 mII and L1S):

These are now available through online stores (I checked Sweetwater but others have them). $599 isn't too bad of a price for the unit. About the same as most good acoustic amps.
