Default JJB pickups

Up front, I'm a Dazzo pickup snob. Have them in five guitars, but who in their right mind would put them in a $150 archtop reclamation project? Not I. So since the back was off the guitar, I glued a set of JJB pickups in as close as I could get them to where I thought the bridge feet would end up.

The clamps came off today, so I strung her up, and you know what? They sound pretty darn good. As good as K&Ks sound to me. So for $40 I got the guitar amplified. I could gig with them through my Carvin just fine.

I run JJBs in my banjos and mandolin. I had one in my guitar, but for some reason there was a weird 400hz hump that we just couldn’t EQ out.

They’re great pickups—quite a lot of bang for your buck.

Yep I run the PPS-220 in everything from fiddles to mandos to banjo to guitars to bass, probably 20 instruments now over the past 9 years or so. 15 mm for fiddles and mandos, 20 mm for the larger instruments. Haven't had any problems yet.

Nothing wrong with JJB pickups.

I have two guitars with them installed and they sound just as good as the other two I have with k&k's. At least I can't tell the difference. I have read that they are not as hot as K&K's but in my Alvarez parlor, I need to turn the volume back compared to the others.

I tried twice to install one in my Alvarez AF60 but the string balance was really off. It was an issue with the guitar however and not the pickup.

The service from JJB is phenomenal.

I just ordered a set based on what folks said here, that being they basically are equal to the K and K's for less money.
I ordered them with the volume wheel...$74.95.
