Loved the movie and even Michael Hedges would have been jealous.

Hi guys...
I'm late for the party.

Loved it, cried over the musical discovery parts and related to the musical elements of hearing the music all the time. Enjoyed the music, and think I'll buy a copy to be able to share with friends.

Watched it with a group and we really enjoyed it.

I loved the movie. It isnt highly believeable, but is a good story none the less. The guitar playing isnt exactly my cup of tea, but was enjoyable for short periods.

I get enough reality every day. When I go to the movies, I want to just enjoy myself for a couple of hours.

I thoroughly enjoyed August Rush. I saw it twice in the Theater and bought the DVD. I tell folks, if you like music, you'll like the movie (but I guess that's not always the case, from some of the responses here).

Reality gets left at the door when a movie gets turned on. It was a great movie.

Not a great movie but good guitar playing. Kaki king the girl that did most of the guitar work is a great player. Shes been doing some shows with the Foo Figthers. Her dad is a member over at the Ovation Fan Club.

(Yes I know, zombie hunting again )

This movie is on Netflix now.
Believable? Of course not, but either are all the Marvel superheroes and ridiculous cop shows.
Anyway I like it.
Not that many movies out that center on music with a lot of guitars.

I would never, ever believe I could watch a movie about drumming that I would enjoy.
Impossible.
Make it worse ... jazz drumming.

J K Simmons won the best supporting actor Academy Award for his role in 'Whiplash'.
You will be exhausted by the end of the movie!

I honestly loved that movie.
It's been out for a long time.
I saw it twice.

Hold on a second, I believe this movie has the same title as a much older movie that I was referring to.
The one I saw had Robin Williams in it, and a child prodigy of music,
who did not know who his parents were until the end of the movie.
Robin Williams gave him the name August Rush and lied and said he
was his dad, and used him to perform music on the streets..

Yep, that's the one... I loved it, even though I knew it was gonna be hokey... there was a lot of truth and "real" instances happening in that film... Beautifully shot and marvelous music...

I went back and rented it a second time, was watching it, having some popcorn... and out of nowhere, I get this idea for a specific guitar tuning (this, in the middle of the movie), so I wrote down the tuning and kept watching...

Enjoyed it, even the second time (maybe more, actually), but was very cool was that tuning was terrific! IS terrific, I should say.

I wrote a thread about on this Forum, wondering if anyone had heard of the same tuning prior to my "discovery"... no one really had, just a couple close ones. It is a fun tuning and I'm still experimenting with it, but that's not really the point.

The point is that with all that "believe and you can do it" stuff going on in the film, I just wrote the thing down... it works nicely, sounds great and was a solid example of just trusting oneself with sound/vibration...

Good movie!

I just watched that the other night. It is a sweet movie, with no real surprises but some sincere heartfelt moments and a couple of LOL lines!

A+ on the family friendly categorization.

(My heart just did a quick double take when I saw a thread started by my friend "Folkstrum" Norm. He graduated this life unexpectedly a few years ago, and I still miss him. We were very different in many ways, but somehow managed to celebrate those differences, even poking good natured fun at each other occasionally. I'll have to go back and watch "August Rush" in his honor!)
