LH 600 and LH 700 differences?
Not having ability to test drive either of these guitars, from a specification standpoint, it appears the main differences between these two models are primarily cosmetic, aside from the 600's neck being mahogany as opposed to the maple neck of the 700. How do these two guitars compare from a tonal perspective?

Similar enough IME that most tonal differences can be attributed to the individual instruments rather than the position in the lineup, although some players claim the LH600 is slightly mellower because of the mahogany neck - bottom line is whatever works for you...

Very similar, from what I've heard.
The 700 is a LOT prettier. |

Yeah, the LH700 looks a bit more "old L5-ish" to me.

I hadn't noticed the neck difference, but that would explain my casual observations.
At worst, the a bad sounding 600 (of which I've only seen a very few) would be dull and thumpy. That said I've playing a bunch of 600's many of which sound great - and frankly it often owes more to being properly set up than not getting a "lemon". That said, I've heard the fit and finish on the 700's better, and I've never seen one that wasn't even better than a 600. The brightness of the maple neck is something that can really make the guitar pop and sing.

Haha.... and there lies the rub. Is it really 600 dollars better from a sonic perspective or is it $575 visual and $25 sonic, or maybe just all visual. The aesthetics of the 700 are certainly appealing.
