Default NGD!! 60's Tribute SG Special

Picked up a 60's Tribute SG Special from the local CL for a very good price. Love it, it really gets along with my JCM800 [thumbup]

The PO replaced the p90 covers with cream....uhhhggg !! He could not find the original black covers so I already have some black covers on order..... cream covers on a cherry SG just seems wrong to me....agree?

He also swapped in some reflectors that I do dig though.

Once those black covers are on, it will look pretty sharp. I agree that the cream ones stick out like a sore thumb. I'm a big sg fan as well as a p90 fan so I totally dig it.

Plays fantastic, the setup is just awesome.

The sound, besides the expected noise, is classic P90!!

Less output than the buckers on my LP, but lots of bite and cuts through nicely..

Just been a day so ... so far so good!

Bobby - Congrats!!! I like creme pickup covers ... but not on that guitar. I'm with you, change them out if you can. I'm sure it sounds sweet through your JCM800.

Finally got the black covers in.......

Love the look.....totally transformed it to 'badass' IMO. [thumbup]

Oh yeah.... I also polished the finish as the satin just did not do it for me..... really darkened and brought out the cherry red.

I am one happy camper!! Got the guitar, the covers, a strap, some straplocks and new strings all for LESS than $500 !!!!

Reminds me of a '65 Special a bud had about 35 years ago - just needs a pickup switch ring, laminated guard, and a Bigsby:

I thought the cream covers worked fine, but WOW does the guitar come alive with the black ones. Nice job and beautiful guitar.

Beautiful.
How did you get the gloss on the wood?

Very nice! I love how the finish looks now with it polished; really brings out the color and natural reflectivity of the wood underneath.
