Default Godin ASG-8 acoustic amp??

Has anyone bought or tried the Godin ASG-8 amp? Price is pretty friendly and I like the looks of the wood one, but they come in all black as well.

Anybody? I assume by the crickets that no one has heard or checked these amps out.

Did you listen to the video in my follow up response? Thoughts about that??

Thanks!

It looks like a Fishman Loudbox mini clone at double the price.

Nowhere did they explain why theirs is better - everything they stated is what other amps already do.

Now, it might be a better sounding amp or something, but they didn't even mention that.

Thanks for your feedback Fazool.........pun intended!

A few quick observations compared to the Loudbox Mini. I own the Loudbox Artist and it's a great amp. Here are some bullet points:

Loudbox Mini is 60 watts. The Godin is 120 watts.
Loudbox Mini has reverb and chorus. The Godin has Reverb, Echo, Flanger, and Chorus.
Loudbox Mini has 6 inch woofer, 1 inch tweeter. Godin has 8 inch woofer and 1 inch tweeter.

There may be other differences, but these are the ones that jump out at me. The Fishman is $400. The Godin is $599, so nowhere near double the price.

The Godin may not be the cat's pajamas, but it looks like a great gigging amp for the money, not too heavy to carry, and has some great built in features IMHO.

Godin is a well respected Canadian instrument manufacturer. I know they have some experience with electronics. I am not sure if they design and manufactured this themselves, or if it is another product private label.

The description said this:

It features 2 channels with XLR and ¼” inputs, independent gain and resonance controls, a sweet-sounding Reverb, as well as other effects like Echo, Flange, and two types of Choruses.

What makes this amplifier really special is that it was designed to sound pristinely clean with a relatively flat yet very natural response, which is ideal for various acoustic instruments (steel or nylon-string, even violin, flute and more) as well as for clear and dynamic vocals.

My take:

There's a few features like resonance, echo, and flange that aren't in every product. 8" woofer and 1" tweeter are pretty common for full range powered speakers. I thought the video sounded good. I don't think it's a gamble. You'll probably be pleased. FWIW, I have never used one. But, I am responding to your request for feedback. And, the design looks great with the tilt back and wood and identical channels. I would be eager to use one!

Is that a phantom power button (+24v)? Two xlr inputs and phantom power adds flexibility compared to many similar acoustic amps.

What does the “resonance” control do? It sounds like it might be a mic modeler. Is it that or something else?

I beleive at one point Godin was offering variations of the Acus amps…which i beleive have some lineage from Schertler. Perhaps Godin still have a connection with Acus…the amps they were offering in the past had some common touchpoints with the Schertlers. To take my hypothesis further, Acus is an Italian company and the presenter is italian…ok…im wandering at this point.
