Personally I'm not offended by the description of this thread (and I suspect Jim wouldn't be either) but I think it sounds a bit "desperate."

Offended, no. But either it is a Rolex, or it isn't.

updates#1
I have been swamped in the workload of my primary job so this is a bit delayed updates.
There were a few more naphtha shots of the BRW set as below. This set is super dark chocolate color after the naphtha on. So Drew tried to capture more grain contents from different angles. Another back shot - One with a bit of reflection from the light source. Side – Too dark to check out the grain on this bent side. Another side shot – This one was shot with a bit more reflection. After the Naphtha test Drew just progressed the build really fast so he didn’t have a chance to photograph the inside. However, he got me photos of the closed box! Looks pretty tight! Back view Front view Quarter view Actually before closing the box, He got me some photos~ Since the back&side of the box is pretty dark chocolate tone. Similar color binding material was a bit bland and no separation at all. Drew sent me many mock-ups that I can choose from. Flamed Honduran Mahogany Flamed Maple Honduran Rosewood Koa We decided to go with the Koa binding and this beautiful BRW Wedge~ fineluthiers.com https://www.facebook.com/fineluthiers/ Last edited by AlanHw; 02-07-2018 at 12:24 PM. |

What is the microphone
Both of those guitars sound Dynamite! Great Videos. And the sound reproduction is fantastic. Can you tell me what Mic he is using? I don't seem to recognize it.

Oh, I just checked your FB message and did answer to this question. Just in case, it was Bruel & Kjaer Type 4006 for those early videos~ |

I am not a tech guy so the record was done by someone else... I don’t know what you mean of the true essence... The only thing I know is there were no EQ, reverb, FX used in those sound clips... If that helps... Cheers, Alan |

Finishing process
Folks, Happy Lunar New Year!
So Drew sent me a few more snapshots. It only has about 1-2 days worth of work to be completed. Finish Process Finished Back It is through the finish process and has been assembled. Frets are installed and leveled/dresses, The bridge is glued on~ Tuners are installed. Only a few steps remain, nut/saddle, pins, setup, etc. Drew hasn't been in a rush to wrap it up so it has been hanging out inside of its Hoffee case. Now we have to wait for the CITES permit and the shipping weather. Please, feel free to contact us for more info~ Cheers, Alan Contact: +82 10 6478 6443 or FB messenger Email: [email protected] fineluthiers.com https://www.facebook.com/fineluthiers/ |

I agree that Drew has ridden the coat tails of Olson fame long enough. His body of work now speaks for itself. The videos sounded great.

The videos sound great...and the craftsmanship looks spot on...
I have always fancied an Olson-style SJ, so I may well speak to this builder at some point... D Last edited by DamianL; 02-16-2018 at 04:15 PM. |

The “ voicing” is the word I used....I meant Drew is following the same method of Jim’s for the structure of the SJ. He builds other models with his own. When it comes to the SJ model, people want the Olson-esque sound and aesthetics from Drew. Thank you for the comment. Alan |
