I've been practicing off and on for last two years.
Off and on meaning I practice everyday but not a set time.
Now, finally barre chords are getting easy, specially the E shaped major/minor chords.
I still find it very hard to barre Bb, B, C etc. chords that are in A shape as it requires skipping one fret so I try to use E shape on B chord.
It's not easy to play E chord and then go to B on 7th fret and back to E as they are too far apart.

I think many new players struggle with barres because their instruments aren't properly (or are incompletely) set up. Getting a proper nut slot height is critical, especially if playing barres on the first five frets.
