2011 Santa Cruz H13 Sunburst SOLD
Sold
The Santa Cruz H13 is an interpreted adaptation of Gibson's 1937 Nick Lucas. Despite its small appearance, the H13 employs a body depth approaching that of a dreadnought-sized guitar, producing volume and bass support to bolster its rich tone. With its player-driven design that has 13 frets clear of the body, plus special soundhole and bridge locations, the H-13 capitalizes upon the best attributes of a 12-fret's resonance and a 14-fret's access. The body fits perfectly in your hands, inspiring gorgeous strumming sounds or intricate finger-picked passages. The bracing pattern is unique to the H13, utilizing a hybrid pattern that combines both scalloped and tapered braces. Built upon the standard tonewoods of an H-13, it is extremely versatile. The combination of Mahogany and Sitka brings clarity and balance. Here is what Santa Cruz has to say about the H13: SCGC’s concept for the H-13 is to achieve power beyond what would be expected in a small-bodied guitar. Two fundamental lutherie tricks make this possible: a longer string length (more downward pressure at the saddle) and more air space via a deeper body (increased volume and bass response). To place the bridge in the optimal position for power and maintain the longer string length, the neck needs to join the body at the 13th fret. Cool, huh? This is a gorgeous classic with power and presence expected from a much larger instrument. Perfect for aggressive fingerstyle blues and vocal accompaniment, the H-13 feels really sweet to hold.
