Microphone Suggestion for under 200.
I sold my powered speakers and replaced with a simpler (for Me) Bose L1 compact. I also sometimes use a TC Helcion harmony singer and I have an RFC Lpad 6 channel mixer with effects. My current mic is a Sure 57A beta.
Sometimes I want to go real simple and just plug in my guitar and mic straight to the Bose. The Sure mic seems thin ? to me when I do this. Even with lips touching and straight on. I don 't have a lot of experience, but this mic sounded good when I put it through my mixer and when I was using my Carvin powered speakers. If I were to look for another Vocal mic in this price range , what would you suggest?

The Neumann KMS 105 which is killer, but will expose you if you are not on point technically.... I put the Sennheiser on another channel and EQ'd it to match my Neumann & it got pretty darn close. The gain has to be adjusted, but this mic is pretty incredible....I am a tenor & it fits my VOX really well I would highly recommend this mic...if you have the Tone Match there is a Sennheiser modeling which sounds great as well

Different mics work better for different voices; that said, I have two Sennheiser e935 mics (one for me and one for my wife). They are great. If you have phantom power available, check out the Blue Encore 300. Terrific sounding mic when used right--don't let a singer cup their hand around it.
I had a baritone/bass singer using the 935 last night through my PA and it sounded really good. $169.95 retail for the 935 Good luck. Happy mic shopping. Might I also suggest a tube preamp. I'd save a few bucks and try your 57 through a ART tube pre before buying a new mic.

I did some research this morning and there were many recommendations for the Sennheiser e935. How about the 835? is this the same mic but without a switch? and less money?

The tube pre paired with the 945 sounds incredible. The tube pre adds that warmth to any mic. And for $50, if it doesn't do it for your vocals, use it as a DI for the guitar.

TC Helicon mikes are built like tanks and as well as sounding detailed but rich also have controls built in for their devices. It's also very feedback resistant.
I have used mine for the last few years and am very happy. |

Check out the Bose forum. There are threads on various mics recommended for their equipment. If I recall correctly, the Audix OM mics were often recommended.

No it isn't the same mic, though similar. The switch I imagine is an option whichever mic it is (and as a rule I try to avoid mics with switches): Think of the 835 as Sennheiser's equivalent of the SM58 where the 935 is more like the Beta58 - although to be more accurate, the Beta58 is the equivalent of the e945 (super-cardioid pickup pattern). Both the e935 and e945 are excellent mics and in my experience easier to eq than the classic 58s (i.e. you need less eq) and with a smoother sound. The e945 is my live mic of choice, especially if I am unfamiliar with an artist who is coming to our venue.

If you want to go up to the limit of your budget.....
https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PM9mic ......otherwise the e935 is a decent sounding mic. |

I just spoke with a friend who is singer songwriter, guitarist, performer, think Eva Cassidy voice. She just bought a 935 to replace her 58 beta and thinks it may be too "hot" for her? She was interested in trying the Art tube preamp though.
