I was up in the air as to which way to go and decided that even if I get an external switch and start using the internal looper on the VE-8, that I'd still like to have a standalone unit small enough to fit in the guitar case.

I've even got several footswitches, including a couple of FS-5U pedals, but none of them are within 2,000 miles of me right now.

Nice to see others using the VE-8 and actually utilizing all of its functions!

I have the Ditto 2x. I've found enough glitches with it that I've lost confidence in it and I was a big advocate for it. The biggest glitch I've run into is that when I use it for open mic that it's not compatible with some of the PA's that I plug it into. The signal coming out of the looper will be too hot on those troublesome PA's. Some of the troublesome PA's have passive mixers whilst others have powered mixers. Even when plugging it into some acoustic amps it's given me grief. My old JamMan Solo with the F3X pedal out performs the Ditto 2x.

Hope I don't have any of those troubles, but since I'm primarily planning on using it at work, it'll be going through my own system unless I get a place that has a house system.

For this kind of application I use the Zvex Lo-Fi Loop Junky. It's pricey, and unique among loopers. You can't do multiple overdubs, but it will create an initial recording for you to play over at will. Also, it's totally analog and the battery lasts a very long time. I just keep in in the case of one of my live gigging guitars. Simple to use and has a gritty lo-fi sound.

Look into it. Good luck.

If they'd make one with the pedal switch cut down the middle so that one side had a stop button I would have bought one immediately. Maybe someday there will be single pedal sized units with a separate stop button.

FYI, if you ever get a glitch with the Ditto X2, try the firmware update as it solved mine (sound was a little distorted on playback; updating firmware fixed it and has been fine ever since---2+ years.)

EHX 360 works for me and you can save a bunch of loops for later.

I just found another reason to love the JamMan Solo XT; fade out option! I do live fadeouts all the time and even though I've got the Ditto X2 on the way, I'm now also in the market for one, and a footswitch of course.

So is it possible to buy just a simple single soft switch for one push stop or three button switch proprietary?

So how hard is it to select stop or fadeout, and can I use just a simple single soft switch for one push stop or do I need the three button switch?

You'll need the 3 button switch to facilitate one button stop. Sorry I can't answer your questions re: fade outs as I've not utilized that function.

I have two.

My main gigging board has a Ditto 2, excellent sound and no issues at all in nearly two years. Did the firmware update and run w other pedals powered by a Cioks DC10. steady and so far reliable, teh two switches make it simple to use live for basic looping.

No2, is a Boss RC1. I use this busking on an old Boss plastic case w a few other Boss pedals. I did need however to get, or in my case make, a double switch which sits off board to do the stop start functions. Perfect and would work pretty much as well as my Ditto if I needed to do so. No issues if you don't mind that extra pedal/switch.

Default RC-3

I use an RC-3 with one pedal stop. Pedal switch on the looper starts the loop. Left added footswitch bumps loop number up and down, right footswitch stops the looper recording and / or stops the looper playing. Right pedal also clears the loop if you hold it down.

I wish it didn't cost so much, but I'm going to be keeping an eye out for a used one. Love how small it is, with two switches still.
